Created First-Year Writing Faculty Benjamin Breyer and ATLIS Senior Software & Applications Developer, this application supports students with real-time feedback as they develop their academic writing skills.

The Ekopolitan Project

The Ekopolitan Project by Professor Abosede George focuses on migrant histories and family genealogies from 19th and 20th century Lagos. It serves as a way to people to both research and record their family histories. ATLIS hosts the website and has provided support on the design and theming of the site.

The Golden of Age of Versailles

This site was a collection student projects in Professor Laurie Postlewate's Golden Age of Versailles. The students designed and developed their own websites and StoryMaps, after receiving instruction from ATLIS and DHC staff in HTML, CSS, and StoryMapsJS. 

App & Website Services

ATLIS can provide help to faculty and instructional staff who want to build websites or applications that support teaching, learning and research. As you can see in the examples above, websites and applications can play a wide range of innovative roles in Barnard's academic mission. They can serve as a catalyst for learning traditional college skills, an opportunity to teach digital methodologies, or a way to collect data and showcase scholarship.

Our services for web and application support can include the following:

  • Consultations: App and/or website services typically start with a consultation, During a consultation, we learn more about your project goals and technical background, while offering technical guidance and sharing ideas on how ATLIS could support your project.
  • Web Hosting: We can host academically-relevant websites on an ATLIS server. Hosting services can also include backups, CMS/application setup, domain management, and system monitoring and maintenance. 
  • Website Design & Development: We may be able to offer assistance designing and developing your website. Though the scope of this service is dependent on the size of your project and ATLIS's availability, we will work to assist you in meeting your goals for any projects hosted on our server.

  • Application Design & Development: We may be able to provide support designing and developing your application. Please note that this service is available on a case-by-case basis, depending on the scope of your project and our team availability.

  • Digital Accessibility Consultations: We are happy to provide guidance on keeping your website or application accessible to all and in compliance with web accessibility standards.

Please note that we are not able to offer the above services for personal projects, portfolio sites, or student organizations.
