Communicating with Your Students About Generative AI (Session 1)

The CEP and ATLIS are hosting a faculty workshop on strategies for communicating about generative AI with your students. A participant from our 2023 workshop described this as “the session that [they’ve] found most useful and applicable to [their] own teaching setting.” 

After a brief primer on AI concepts, instructors will engage in a discussion to gauge their level of AI literacy. Participants will then work in smaller groups based on their current teaching goals to (1) craft a clear AI course policy OR (2) articulate a plan for discussing generative AI with students. Finally, we’ll apply some of this knowledge and some of these strategies to classroom scenarios to help you prepare for concerns or questions around the use of generative AI that may come up in your course. Designed for all levels of generative AI experience.
